Continuing the sea theme started by his spring/summer 2018 collection and the December show Metier's d’Art, Karl Lagerfeld asked the audience on board ‘La Pausa,’ the Chanel liner, constructed in the center of the Grand Palais in Paris. The name of the ship was chosen not coincidentally and serves as a reminder of the great Mademoiselle Chanel and her favorite getaway spot — a summerhouse in Roquebrune-Cap-Martin on the Cote d'Azur.
The Cruise 2019 collection itself is filled with Coco’s spirit, her love for yacht voyages in the company of the Duke of Westminster, Hugh Grosvenor, and with aristocratic recreation on the water.
Wide trousers, snow-white skirts, blazers, berets and bags made to look like life rings were supplemented with classic stripes and only at the end were complemented by shades of pink, red, turquoise and electric.
After the show, Karl Lagerfeld came out accompanied by Virginie Viard, a longtime assistant to the great maestro.
