It so happened in life that one of my greatest hobbies after fashion, design, sport and healthy lifestyle in every sense of the word—from physiology to inner harmony—is now traveling. I devote all my free time to it, combining it with rest, learning something new, language practices, and acquaintance with new cultures, people and with myself.
I carefully store all my travel findings in Instagram, where the Ukrainian edition of ELLE found inspiration for its new material, in which I and my friend Volodymyr Syvokon share our innermost places, compiling a list of must-see travel destinations investigated in our joint trips.
Tulum / Mexico
You should go there for a full reboot. Stunning nature, amazing parks, a pure ocean and, strangely enough, a fairly active nightlife. However, do not worry about pretentious outfits—all you may need here is loose, lightweight things made of natural fabrics and a few hats that will help you cope with high humidity and air temperature.
In addition to lounging around, it is worthwhile to set aside a day to visit the legendary Chichen Itza with traces of a great civilization—the Maya pyramids. We were staying at the Be Tulum hotel, which is incredibly simple and will be to the liking of travelers who are looking for romance and harmony with nature.
Marrakech / Morocco
I was lucky to visit this city in June, during the holy month of Ramadan. Despite the fact that the air temperature remained within 35-37 degrees Celsius (95-98.6 degrees Fahrenheit), the air was not scorching because of high dryness.
The first thing that sticks in memory is the villa in which Yves Saint Laurent lived, spread out by the oasis of the Majorelle Garden in the middle of the sands of the Sahara Desert. For fashion enthusiasts like me, this is a must see object.
The second indelible impression of the ancient city will be Djemaa el Fna—a noisy central square, filled with bright colors and spicy flavors. It is here, among hundreds of musicians, snake charmers, fakirs, acrobats, street craftsmen and cooks, that you can find the most exquisite souvenirs.
We were staying at the Royal Mansour Hotel, famous for the best spa in all of Morocco. I confirm: it really is the best.
California / USA
So much has already been said, filmed and sung about this state, that words will be superfluous. I will only note a few key points: a very pleasant, dry and warm climate at any time of the year, museums with masterpieces of contemporary art, a gastronomic idyll and, of course, the music festival Coachella, a visit to which is a must at least once in life.
For those who get bored with the bohemian hangout and want some hardcore, my recommendation is to ride the Palm Springs Aerial Tramway and visit the San Andreas Fault, which the disaster film “San Andreas” with Dwayne Johnson in the title role revolves around.
Capri, Florence, Venice, Rome / Italy
To experience the country’s spirit, rent a car and take a ride along both of its coasts. This, without a doubt, is the most delicious country of all. Apart from a multitude of impressions, the expressive Italian gestures, heaps of purchases and a light tan, you will come back home with a couple of extra pounds.
Hence, my sports program here is even more intensive: an hour of tennis in the afternoon, 40 minutes in the gym and then jogging homewards.
If you want to experience a gastronomic orgasm, go to the town of Forte dei Marmi in Tuscany. My favorite places are located here: Bocconcino, Ristorante Bistrot and Bania Nette.
Also I recommend visiting Pietrasanta, an old town which has been transformed into a single installation of modern art. Here you can try the Michelin-starred restaurant Martinatika—a spot where the locals come expressly to taste the divinely cooked meat.
Barcelona / Spain
Barcelona feels like a European California—a big, lazy, but incredibly beautiful urban center on the Mediterranean coast. Gaudi’s architectural masterpieces, the Picasso museum, sangria, paella, premium olives and jamón. You just won’t find an eatery serving not delicious food here! Among our favorites are Asador de Aranda, which specializes in meat, and the fish restaurant El Cangrejo Loco. In the evening, head to Burbujas Cava & Gastro Bar for delicious oysters, tartar and an excellent selection of wines.
Similar to Morocco, Barcelona is an expert in flea markets. You should definitely visit one of these Encants to spend half of Sunday surrounded by vintage furniture, rare paintings and other splendor which it is tempting to buy in one go.
Maui / Hawaii / USA
From January to March, this is the perfect place for surfing, golf and a beach vacation. The beauty of nature is simply jaw-dropping. Be sure to visit the inactive volcano and go hiking in the rainforest. For these activities, you will definitely need closed comfortable footwear and, quite possibly, a raincoat, since the weather on the islands is pretty unpredictable.
In restaurants, American, Hawaiian and Japanese cuisines are predominant, which serves to demonstrate the diversity and freshness of seafood. In particular, it’s worth going out to the Morimoto and Cuatro restaurants.
You can stay at the Four Seasons Resort Maui at Wailea.
Las Vegas / USA
If you can, plan this trip for the New Year period. Then you will get into a constant flow of incredible events, performances and shows, emerging at every turn. Casinos, clubs, and concerts will make colorful memories. The Le Rêve show at the circus Cirque du Soleil is well worth a visit.
I did not mention the evening dresses before, but now it is time, because here you will have a lot of opportunities to wear most of your wardrobe.
In a whirl of events, don’t forget to take a helicopter tour over the Grand Canyon.
Choosing a hotel, pay particular attention to the Wynn Twin Towers—a whole city of entertainment and restaurants, in which the concept of time ceases to exist.
