American fashion designer Tommy Hilfiger demonstrated his fifth see-now-buy-now collection in the Tommy Now line to the fashion community and the brand’s fans on the famous waterfront, the Bund, in the heart of Shanghai’s financial center shining with neon and skyscrapers.
“Someone once told me to go to where your customers are, and this is the ultimate version of that,” Tommy Hilfiger shared before the show.
The event was only a couple of days ahead of New York Fashion Week, gathering the most well-known personalities of East Asia on the runway and in the audience, such as South Korean singer Taeyeon and k-pop star Park Chanyeol of EXO. The appearance of the latter generated considerable excitement, with a thousand-strong army of fans leaning against the glass wall, which fenced the venue of the show.
As part of the event, the designer’s first collaboration with Lewis Hamilton—the British Formula 1 champion, who captured his fifth Italian Grand Prix two days ago—was on display. The Tommy x Lewis capsule is the sequel to the brand's collaboration with Gigi Hadid.
Tommy's favorites Hailey Baldwin and Winnie Harlow made a runway appearance, showcasing new pieces in the brand’s classic color scheme: bombers, cropped parkas, velvet hoodies, pullovers, loose pants and dresses of various lengths—altogether 112 looks, ready to be purchased “here and now.”
